I was asked by a friend, if I could recommend a couple of restaurants for a foreigners visiting Copenhagen which led me to consider doing a blog in english. But I'm a realist. I love eating and I like writing about it, but I would never find the time to do both a danish and an english blog, so here is my version of a compromice - A best of breed list of recommendation with my favorit spots when in Copenhagen.

Should you need more, I highly recommend the blog Very Good Food - always a good read and it is in english...

Without further ado... the list:

For burgers try Halifax (Frederiksborggade 35, 1360 Copenhagen K)
For top end cusine, I highly recommend Paustian. One of currently ten restaurants i Denmark with af michelin star, but my favorit of the bunch
Inner city and also best cheap italian: Il Peccato (Axeltorv 8, 1608 Copenhagen K)
Best italian: Famo 51 (Gl. Kongevej 15, 1610 Copenhagen V)
Traditional danish food: Klubben (Enghavevej 4, 1674 Copenhagen V)
Medeteranian and french food: Cofoco - the team behind Cofoco have several restaurants, but my favorit is the one simply named 'Cofoco' ( Abel Cathrines Gade 7, 1654 Copenhagen V)

And last but not least, my personal favorit: Bjørnekælderen (Frederiksberg Allé 55, 1820 Frederiksberg) where the menu is a compilation of dishes inspired by traditional danish, italian and french cuisine.

A note on finding the adresses in Copenhagen. If the restaurant have a homepage in english, the name will link directly to the homepage. Otherwise, I will include the adress. When looking at adresses in Copenhagen note the ending:

Copenhagen K is inner city
Copenhagen V is west (Vesterbro)
Copenhagen N is north (Nørrebro)
Copenhagen Ø is east (Østerbro)
Copenhagen S is south (Sydhavnen og Amager)
Copenhagen NV is north-west (Nordvest)

Frederiksberg is a city within the city situated between Vesterbro and Nørrebro.

All adresses in Copenhagen or Frederiksberg is within easy reach on foot, bike, bus, metro or S-train. The greater Copenhagen including suburbs USUALLY have differente names.
